About National Book Lovers Day: Today August 9th is National Book Lovers Day. On this day, book lovers have a day for something that isn’t really appreciated on a normal basis. Though this day is for book lovers people who don’t normally read can start reading and have a real reason to read a book. This day encourages you to find your favorite place, a good book, rather it be fiction or no-fiction and read the day away!
You can also as book lovers come together and have some fun talking about books that they have read or even read together. People read many different genres of books and on this day why not try to talk to some people that have the same taste in genres as you do. People who don’t want to meet with other readers to talk about books can stay home and read to enjoy the day.
Reasons to Partake: Now I know that not many people are book lovers but reading can be a lot of fun. Some of my best memories are from reading really good books and talking about them. Books are also a fun creative world you can discover. I believe that to read you should have a large imagination so that you can really picture what you are reading. There is also the fact that you can meet new people just by talking about a book.
History of books:
- The very first books used parchment or vellum (calfskin) for the book pages.
- The book covers were made of wood and often covered with leather.
- The books were fitted with clasps or straps.
- Public libraries appeared in the middle Ages.
- Books in public libraries were often chained to a bookshelf or a desk to prevent theft.
Book manufacturing’s recent development include the development of digital printing. Book pages are printed using toner rather than ink. The development of digital printing has also opened up the possibility of print-on-demand, where no books are printed until after an order is received from a customer. E-books are rapidly increasing in popularity. E-book (electronic book) refers to a book-length publication in digital form. They are normally available through the internet however, can also be found on CD-ROM and other forms. E-books are read either by computer or via a portable book display device known as an e-book reader, such as a Reader, Nook or Kindle.
Reading can be educational and informative!
